    院校简介

Waverley Primary School is a friendly, welcoming school with a strong community focus. We provide a comprehensive education to all students, whilst catering for individual learning needs and abilities.

We offer an outstanding creative arts program, and many opportunities for students to be involved in a variety of sporting activities, public speaking and performance events.

Our school is set in spacious grounds, offering extensive grassed areas, multipurpose netball/basketball court and a large carpark/drop-off area.

Primary schools in NSW follow a curriculum based on stages of learning. Each stage is approximately equivalent to two school years. For each learning stage there are skills, knowledge and a level of understanding that each student should develop.

Your family is about to embark on a wonderful and exciting adventure.  We hope you become part of our family so we can work in partnership to nurture and educate your child.

Our school has, over the last couple of years, grown in student numbers.  This is in part due to the warm, caring and friendly atmosphere.  Students and parents are warmly welcomed into the school.  Here we listen to each other and learn together.

The growth is also in part due to the wide range of educational experiences provided in a friendly, safe and stimulating environment.  The curriculum is extensive and varied.   Not only do we have a strong emphasis on the development of students’ literacy and numeracy skills, but also the social, cultural and physical needs of students.  Quality teaching ensures quality learning, geared to individual differences and the full spectrum of students from gifted and talented to those having learning difficulties.

All Learning Areas are comprehensively taught, and integrated into whole school programs.  Currently we have specialist teachers in Italian, Music and Visual Arts.  Our choir has participated in concerts at the Opera House, and we have had international success with students’ art works.

Innovative programs; traditional teaching; modern technology; hands-on learning; co-operative learning; individual programs; ability groups; remedial teaching; extension work; we do what it takes to ensure your child receives a comprehensive education.

The dedicated staff cares about each child, and the children care about each other.  As our motto states: Because we Care.

      School’s Motto

      "Because we Care"

      School Vision

"Create a supportive environment that celebrates a love of learning and inspires our students to realise their full potential"

      School Values

Recognising and rewarding positive behaviour underpins the school’s student welfare program. Our Golden Rules ensure a safe and happy school and consistent behaviour expectations improve the self esteem and social skills of each of our students.

      Our Golden Rules are:

We are kind and helpful… We don’t hurt anybody’s feelings

We are gentle… We don’t hurt others

We are honest… We don’t cover up the truth

We look after property… We don’t damage things

      We listen… We don’t interrupt

We work hard… We don’t waste time

      Mission Statement

At Waverley Primary School, each child is valued and nurtured as a unique learner. Our school is committed to fostering a safe, caring and challenging learning environment which enables all students to achieve their maximum potential.

The Waverley PS behaviour management program is designed to support children in managing their daily behaviour in the classroom, on the playground and when participating in specialist programs and other classes.

      Outcomes and Goals

The goals of the behaviour management program are based on the PDHPE Syllabus and are reflected in the following areas.

      Outcomes:

      Communicating

      Decision Making

      Interacting

      Problem Solving

      Games & Sports

      Interpersonal Relationships

      Safe Living

      Homework Policy

      Underlying Principles

Purposeful homework plays an important part in a student’s learning and in developing positive study habits. A reasonable amount of homework is seen as a worthwhile part of the School Program and an integral part in the development of responsibility and the production of quality work.

At the Parent/Teacher Information Evenings held at the beginning of each year, teachers have the opportunity to introduce parents to the class expectations concerning homework tasks and routines.
